ABOUT US
Karin De Winter and Jo Van Rossem - both born and based in Belgium, Antwerp region - are fine art nature inspired photographers, operating as a husband and wife team. They have always been avid travelers, and used photography to simply register and document their explorative trips, at the same time pursuing busy careers in medicine (Karin) and architecture (Jo).
However everything changed in 2007 while visiting Namibia for the first time, when they were blown away by its wildlife and unique natural landscapes. Self study and practice became the mainstay of their development as photographers from purely documenting to using this visual art as a creative tool for self-expression.
In 2019 Karin and Jo decided to leave behind the professional health care and architectural world, and concentrate on their photographic art. Creating compelling images that they hope will not leave people untouched is the main goal. Through their art they want to raise awareness and contribute to protection and conservation of our planet.
Their work is characterized by an evolution towards a crossing point between nature photography and abstract visual art. Textures, rhythms, colors and lines, landscapes large or small, close up or far away, are the cornerstone of their current work. Do not expect classic nature images. Their work represents a different way of seeing subjects in nature that can be alienating at times, but also wants to drive ones attention to what otherwise might remain unseen.
Their artwork is available as museum quality fine art prints in limited editions. Besides that, they have built up an extensive travel and nature portfolio of images, which are available as open edition prints or for which digital licenses can be purchased. In the past, their images have been licensed by The Guardian, National Geographic, Rough Guide, Condé Nast, The Daily Mail, Oxfam, The Telegraph, and Hachette among others.
